I didn't set out to find a collection.
Sefrou, Morocco · 2023

The departure
I set off for a wonderful work experience, completely outside my comfort zone. Documenting, interviewing, observing. It was 2023, I was in Sefrou, a small town at the gates of Fez. An English artist lived there and needed someone to tell the story of what surrounded her.

The two months
For two months, that's exactly what I did. I followed artisans into their workshops, listened to the sound of looms, watched hands that dye, that sew, that transform matter into something lasting. I crossed medinas I didn't know, stopping where something held me back without always knowing why.

The fabric
Then one day I stopped in front of a fabric. One of those used for traditional Moroccan sofas. Heavy, dense, full of colour. A fabric born to stay still. To welcome, not to move. To belong to a place, not a person.
"Something inside me said: this has to come with me."
From that moment I began to search. In every medina I crossed, in every shop I visited, my eyes searched for those fabrics. Each one had a different story. A colour that told of a region, a weave that spoke of a tradition, a texture that carried within it the warmth of a Moroccan home. I took them with me. I turned them into small clasp bags. Precious chests, I call them.

Small chests of rediscovered worlds.
No Medina bag is the same as another. It can't be. Every fabric comes from a different place, a different story. And that story, even if you can't see it, is inside every stitch, every thread, every centimetre of colour.
Medina is the collection of the journey. Not the journey as escape, but the journey as discovery. Of oneself, of others, of what the world has to offer to those who know how to stop and look.
